Since the premiere, the BBA have been present at the Waterkant Festival in Kiel and so we were also there on both days in 2023 to provide insights into the BBA network and tips for founders, but also to take away new impulses, get to know promising startups and meet numerous like-minded people.
How can we inspire more women to found startups? And how to convince venture capital funds to give them more than a fraction of the global venture capital? These and similar questions were addressed by Heidrun Twesten (2nd from left) in her live podcast. Her interview partners, in addition to our board member Norma Jensen (far right), were: Hanna Marie Asmussen (far left), who was 2022 Female Founder of the Year and is currently on the Soonicorns list, and Janina Möllmann, Co-Founder and CEO of GAIA, a legal management system for SMEs.
Heidrun Twesten wants to motivate more women to found startups. Based on her own entrepreneurial experiences as well as the know-how of experienced founders, investors and networkers, she encourages them to take the step into entrepreneurship.
Our board member and screening officer Claas Nieraad presented the Baltic Business Angels Schleswig-Holstein in a session and reported from his extensive experience as an investor. He gave exciting insights how a business angel works. What is paid attention to, what are the exclusion criteria for an investment and what forms of cooperation are possible between StartUp and Business Angel. What can you do if things get difficult? There was a very exciting and diverse discussion with the audience.
In the evening we were invited to the new format of the Investment Vernissage. 16 teams with a need for growth capital presented themselves and were brought together with business angels and venture capitalists from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Berlin as well as Sweden.
The Waterkant Festival 2023 was again a great success and we are looking forward to be back next year.
Claus Ruhe Madsen has been Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport, Labour, Technology and Tourism since 29 June 2022. He was born in Copenhagen on 27 August 1972; he is married and has one daughter.

Er betreut aktiv zahlreiche deutsche StartUps, Accelerator-Programme und ist Scout im Norden für den „High-Tech Gründerfonds“ (HTGF). Dadurch hat er Zugang zu erstklassigem internationalen Deal Flow und Investoren. Darüber hinaus hat Claas mehrere Aufsichtsratspositionen inne und ist Live-Musiker mit der „Soul Lounge Connection“.
As a serial entrepreneur, investor and business angel, Julian has been involved in the German start-up and venture capital scene since 2003. He focuses on helping selected early-stage start-ups and their founders to turn their ambitions into reality. Investments are typically made in early-stage B2B technology companies with an initial track record. Julian’s current focus is on Industrial IoT, data analytics, B2B platform tools, e-health and 3D.
