Our member survey reflects a difficult investment climate for business angels and start-ups across Germany. At the Business Angel Community Summit in Wiesbaden on September 13 and 14, the measures taken by the federal government were welcomed. However, the majority of the most active business angels in particular do not consider them to be sufficient.
Our board member Norma Jensen participated in the panel discussion at the DemoDay of Business Angels Deutschland (BAND). The event focused on the "Women Angels Mission '25" campaign launched by BAND, which the BBA has supported since its inception. The goal is to increase the share of female business angels to 25 % by 2025.
DanBAN, the Angels network from the Danish neighboring country, had invited us to their pitch event in Aarhus.
Since the premiere, the BBA have been present at the Waterkant Festival in Kiel and so we were also there on both days in 2023 to provide insights into the BBA network and tips for founders, but also to take away new impulses, get to know promising startups and meet numerous like-minded people.
As early as 2017, the WTSH had initiated a network in which private investors in the state can exchange ideas and gain access to promising startups. Baltic Business Angels Schleswig-Holstein e.V. was then founded in June 2018 and the network has been growing steadily ever since. We celebrated our fifth birthday with great guests and a colorful audience at InnoPier in Kiel.
The BBA want to continue to position themselves internationally and are therefore establishing contacts with other European networks. So our CEO Julian von Hassell took part in the EBAN's annual general event.
The predominantly Schleswig-Holstein private investors of technology startups organized in our network unanimously elected Kiel-based entrepreneur Norma Jensen as Commercial Officer to the Board of Directors at our Annual General Meeting on April 05, 2023.
Hamburg-based startup PANDA GmbH, which specializes in enabling industrial factory floors for artificial intelligence (AI) applications, reports the successful completion of a financing round of around half a million EUR. The main operating site will be relocated to Schleswig-Holstein.
Business angels play an important role for startups. However, finding and attracting them is not always easy. Our Baltic Business Angels Norma Jensen and Matthias Damerow talk about their drive to support startups and their investment experiences.
